Our Mission

Project One provides students from lower income, single-parent families with scholarships and tools for college success, including a gifts and talents program, financial literacy, and mentoring.

A Message from Our Founder

I grew up witnessing the financial struggles and sacrifices that are necessary for a single-mom to raise a family.  I was also blessed by someone caring enough to make a difference in my life.  However, many kids are not as fortunate.  Because of my experiences, I have had a long-term personal goal to send a student to college whom otherwise would not be able to attend. In 2009, this goal evolved into a larger vision.  As a result, I decided to leave a long investment career and began focusing my time and effort on creating a non-profit to provide college scholarships to students raised by single-parents.  The concept and challenge were clear – instead of sending just one deserving student to college, I wanted to create an organization that, over the years, would benefit hundreds of students and also positively impact their lives in other significant ways.Project One is more than a scholarship fund.  There were a couple of other educational experiences that had a profound impact on my life – a personal financial management course and the process of identifying my gifts and talents.  If only I had learned these lessons earlier in life.  We have included these components in our program as we provide our scholars with education on personal financial literacy and a process to help them discover the gifts and talents that each of them possess.  Ultimately, I hope that our program begins a self-perpetuating cycle of giving for each recipient.
With your help, I believe that we can make a lasting difference in the lives of young people and in our community.  I hope that you will join me in this effort.
